The village of Uçhisar is dominated by a mammoth rock-cut fortress riddled with tunnels and caves.
Just like the region's underground cities, this rocky outcrop provided villagers with protection from invaders during the Roman and Byzantine eras. The fortress can be climbed to the top, where you are rewarded with sweeping panoramas over the undulating valleys that surround the village.
Uçhisar is also a good starting point for valley walks.
